The issue of affordable liability insurance for tourism
activities has always been a primary goal of the North Dakota Nature and Rural Tourism Association. Since 2005, NDNRTA has worked with the North Dakota Insurance Department to research problems and possible solutions for tourism operators in the state. Recently, some promising options have been identified. To determine the best course of action, NDNRTA decided to survey operators to obtain individual feedback. During December 2007, survey forms were mailed to over 500 tourism operators. Results of the survey and additional insurance information was presented at the 6th Annual Nature & Rural Tourism Conference. View the survey results here. NDNRTA is currently discussing the results of the survey and available options with insurance providers in the state. |

The 2008 full-day conference was a success! Entrepreneurs shared "how to’s" on: marketing & advertising, start up business issues, and working with & attracting international guests. Carol Patterson of Kalahari Management was the keynote speaker; her presentation focused on the changing trends, demographics and opportunities we have as a rural state.

Inventory of North Dakota Tourism Resources - October 2007
The North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives has assisted the North Dakota Nature & Rural Tourism Association in compiling a comprehensive list of hundreds of tourism attractions, operators, and service providers in the state. This information will be used for various association activities including liability insurance reform and further development of tourism opportunities in North Dakota.
